How I Fixed My "Nothing to Wear" Problem

I used to have the same closet problems most people have. I only wore a small percentage of my wardrobe, I shopped constantly without knowing what I actually needed, and it took me forever to decide what to wear.
Most mornings I would get dressed and change. And change again, because my outfit was never quite right.
And somehow, I always felt like I had all of these clothes and nothing to wear.
I remember one night in particular. I was going out for dinner with friends and completely ripped apart my closet trying to get ready. I showed up late in an outfit I didn't feel good in and came home to half my wardrobe on the floor.
I looked at the mess and thought, there has to be a better way.
I started looking for a solution
That’s when I started researching different ways to simplify my closet.
One of the most popular methods I came across was the capsule wardrobe: a small collection of high-quality pieces that all work together.
In theory, I loved it.
But in practice, it didn’t work for me.
I felt like I had to go out and buy specific capsule pieces instead of getting use out of the clothes I already owned. I felt boxed into a certain style, and I found it impossible to find pieces that went with everything else.
Most importantly:
I still had to wake up every morning and put together an outfit, which was the problem I was trying to solve.
Then it occurred to me: Maybe I should just create outfits?
Instead of trying to create the perfect collection of individual pieces, what if I just created complete outfits based on my own life?
I started with my work outfits, seeing what tops went with what pants and what shoes. I put together a few casual outfits for the weekend and dressier outfits for dinners out.
And I couldn’t believe how well it worked. For the first time, I was able to get dressed quickly and easily. It became obvious what pieces were missing from my wardrobe and what pieces I no longer needed.
It completely changed the way I shopped
And once I had my outfits, I stopped shopping aimlessly.
Instead of buying something because I liked it or it was on sale, I started asking myself:
What does this go with?
Where am I going to wear it?
Do I actually need it?
I started shopping much more intentionally, and I stopped wasting money on clothes I didn’t need.
I also started dressing better because I had actually taken the time to put together outfits I felt good in. I focused on the details, like finding the right shoes and properly styling the outfit. I made sure the outfit was comfortable and practical, and that all of the pieces actually worked together.
Eventually, I had a collection of outfits I loved that worked for my own life.
That idea eventually became The 20 Outfit Wardrobe
I realized I only needed about 20 go-to outfits as the foundation of my wardrobe. It was enough to cover the most common occasions in my life, and it gave me variety while still allowing me to wear and get more use out of the clothes I owned.
After years of trial and error with my own closet, a lot of research and working one on one with a number of women, I took everything I learned and turned it into a step-by-step process you can use to create your own 20 Outfit Wardrobe.
The System teaches you how to identify the outfits you need for your own life, understand what pieces work best together and why, style your outfits, navigate your closet through seasonal transitions and life changes, shop more intentionally, declutter and organize your clothes, and even pack more easily for trips.
