How to Tweak Your Outfits for a Trip

I just went on a trip to Sedona, Arizona with a few friends. It was absolutely beautiful!
But I didn’t know what to pack.
I realized my outfits weren’t very ‘Sedona.’ It’s a desert setting, and the style leans more toward flowy dresses, linen pieces, and earthy tones, which I didn’t own.
Have you ever booked a trip and felt like your wardrobe didn’t suit the destination?
So what do you do in this situation?
I didn’t want to buy pieces I knew I wouldn’t wear again.
So instead, I decided to tweak my current outfits.
We did a lot of hiking during the day, so I wore my workout clothes and borrowed a backpack.

For dinners, I packed a few of my neutral spring and summer outfits. To tweak them, I wore a brown and gold statement earring, which added a bit more detail and interest to my looks.

It can be really tempting to buy new clothes for a trip. You don’t want to feel out of place, and trips usually come with a lot of photos.
But before you do, look at what you already have.
You might just need to tweak your outfits slightly.
For example:
Add a woven clutch to a dress for a more relaxed, sunny feel.
Add a tartan scarf to a coat for a more classic, European look.
Small changes can make a big difference.
Before buying anything new, ask yourself:“Is this something I will wear again?”
Trips can make you more likely to buy “one-time wear” pieces. Things that work for the trip, but not for your real life.
And then they sit in your closet for years, unworn.
If you’re heading on a trip this summer, start with your current outfits and see how they can work. Make small adjustments to suit the setting.
And if you do want something new, try borrowing or buying second-hand first.
The beauty of having outfits is that small tweaks can make them feel right for any setting.
You don’t need to go shopping or start from scratch. You can simply adjust what you already have.
