Why I Don’t Store My Seasonal Clothes

I used to switch out my wardrobe at the change of season.

I would store my warmer clothes during the colder months and vice versa.

But I stopped.

And here’s why.

Firstly, seasonal transitions are rarely smooth. The weather usually jumps from cold to warm and back again, which means you need a good buffer period before you can truly put anything away.

Second, weather is rarely consistent. You can have cold, rainy days in the summer and cooler evenings that still require sweaters, long pants or a jacket.

And with indoor air conditioning, especially in office environments, you may still need warmer layers to stay comfortable.

Then there’s travel.

If you book a sunny beach vacation in the middle of winter, suddenly you’re digging through storage bins trying to find your shorts and sundresses.

Once I realized all of this, I decided to keep everything in one place.

Because I didn’t want my wardrobe to take up a lot of my time.

If there was an unseasonably warm day in early spring, I had my warm weather outfits ready to go. If it got cold again for a few weeks, I had my colder weather outfits available too.

I wanted to be able to get ready easily every day and have my items easily accessible when needed.

I wanted my wardrobe to feel useful and complete, not stressful and time consuming.

I wanted to only own what I actually wore and needed instead of spending hours decluttering, organizing or switching everything out every few months.

And that’s why I love outfits, because they make this entire process so much easier.

You know what pieces to keep and what pieces you no longer need, so you can create a smaller wardrobe that still feels complete and functional.

If you enjoy switching out your closet, that’s great. Keep doing what works best for you.

But if you find yourself dreading the task every few months, digging through storage bins before a trip or wishing your sweaters weren’t packed away on a colder summer day, remember, you can keep everything in one place.

And if you want help creating your spring/summer outfits, The Custom Outfit Package is currently $100 off!
