Why I Love Repeating Outfits

I don't like spending a lot of time on my wardrobe: shopping, returning things, selling pieces, creating outfits, decluttering and organizing. I like having a simple and efficient system that lets me get ready easily, always feel put together and never have to worry about what to wear.
And that's why I love repeating outfits.
So what exactly are the benefits of repeating outfits and why do I love it so much?
Firstly, it's a lot less work.
Putting together an outfit every day takes time. Figuring out what top goes with which pants, what shoes work best, how to style it, whether it's comfortable and whether it's appropriate for the occasion requires a lot of decision making.
Having go-to outfits that you already know work makes your mornings much more efficient.
Secondly, I dress better.
Instead of constantly trying to create a new outfit every day, I put my effort into the details of outfits I can wear on rotation.
I focus on finding pieces that fit well, are comfortable, I feel good in and work together. I figure out the best way to style a piece, instead of trying to remember ten ways to do it.
I'd much rather wear an outfit I've worn before that I know looks good, feels comfortable and suits the occasion than wear something new or different that isn't quite right.
Next, I can own fewer clothes.
I love having a smaller wardrobe filled with pieces I actually wear and enjoy.
I know what pieces go together, what occasions they're for and how to style them.
I don't have clothes that don't fit, feel uncomfortable or sit unworn in my closet.
I've refined my wardrobe down to what I truly need and getting dressed feels much less overwhelming as a result.
People notice less than you think.
We often worry that people will judge us for repeating outfits.
But most of the time, we can barely remember what we wore ourselves, let alone what someone else wore.
And the truth is, repeating outfits is how a wardrobe is supposed to function. A top that works with both a pair of jeans and shorts. A dress paired with the shoes that suit it best.
Once this is all figured out, you can wear and enjoy your outfits throughout the season.
The goal isn't to constantly create new combinations. The goal is to have pieces that work well together and outfits you genuinely love wearing again and again.
Of course, once you have your go-to outfits, you can always switch a shoe, bag or accessory depending on the occasion.
But building outfits from scratch every morning is not something I want to do on a daily basis.
For me, repeating outfits isn't boring. It's efficient.
It helps me dress better, own less, shop less and spend less time thinking about clothes.
And that's exactly what I want from my wardrobe.
